The first-generation Toyota Pickup (1968–1972) is the original Hilux — the truck that launched the Toyota Pickup nameplate in the U.S. market and laid the foundation for the four generations that followed. Survival rates are low, which means restoration buyers are working with parts that have been off OEM availability for fifty years. LC Engineering has supported the vintage Toyota Pickup community since 1985, sourcing and supplying the components owners need to keep these original Hilux trucks on the road.

Most surviving 1st-gen Pickups carry the 8R 1.9-liter or the later 18R 2.0-liter. Both predate the 20R, 22R, and 22RE families that defined later generations, so 1st-gen rebuild work is its own discipline. Our catalog for the 1st gen Pickup focuses on engine rebuild components, suspension and steering, body, drivetrain (clutch, transmission, differential), gaskets and seals, and the OEM-spec replacement parts that are no longer available through standard channels.

If you are restoring a 1st-gen Pickup and cannot find a part, our technical team has 40 years of Toyota truck experience and can usually source it — call (928) 505-2501 or email support@lcengineering.com.
