1984-1985 and 1986-1989 Are Different Trucks Up Front
This is the most important thing on the page, and it is why a part that fits another 4Runner may not fit yours.
1984 and 1985 — leaf-sprung front axle. Our front leaf spring sets are listed for these two years only, at stock height and lifted.
1986 through 1989 — independent front suspension on torsion bars. No front leaf springs apply. Front ride height comes from the torsion bars, and the wear items are ball joints.
The rear is leaf-sprung across all six years, so the rear spring sets are listed 1984-1989 and the split does not apply back there.
Where to Go From Here
Lift kits — the biggest section. Rear leaf sets 2" to 4" for all years, front leaf sets for 1984-1985, and long travel.
Stock height — replacement springs, shocks and torsion bars for a truck staying at factory height.
Brackets and hardware — U-bolt flip kits, bump stops, limit straps and track bar mounts. A short list on this generation.
Lowering — one item, and it is torsion bars. Almost nobody lowers these.
